Chest Lounge

Description

Chest by arnoldlane was designed in response to the Corporate Culture + SAS Design Journey brief. The brief called for a lounge range that could be used in a number of environments including foyer, hotel, reception at the home.

The philosophy for Chest came from the original Chesterfield lounge, first designed in 1860. The original design features of a large curvaceous arm and continuous form with back and arms at the same height were re-interpreted in a contemporary manner.

The curvaceous rolled arm has been accentuated as a strong feature of the concept and presents a strong graphic form on the rear elevation.

arnoldlane also envisaged that a stitching detail be applied to the arm. The design for the stitching detail would relate to an implied doily that is reminiscent of a detail common to the period when the Chesterfield lounge was originally designed.
