Cano

Description

The shelving system Cano refers to industrial shelving systems constructed from simple elements in laser cut steel with a touch of colour and humour. The naïve, large crosses between the shelves add charm, softening the severe functionality which is characteristic of industrial shelving systems. With its applicable dimensions and sturdy materials Cano is a flexible storage system with a clear identity. Since Cano has no front or back side it fits effectively as a free-standing piece of furniture, against a wall or as a room divider.
The name Cano refers to the model construction kit Maccano which for generations has been little boys’ first experiences with construction. Designer Johannes Norlander, who was a big fan of Meccano, has transferred the idea of building models using metal strips, nuts and bolts with a very visible structure to Cano.
Cano is available in three heights and with crosses in four different colours. The shelving system was nominated for the Swedish design prize “Design S” in 2006.
